Bayern Munich forward heading to Spurs after Ange Postecoglou talks having initially rejected move
Mathys Tel is travelling to Tottenham to finalise a dramatic deadline day move from Bayern Munich, with the structure of the deal still to be worked out.
Tel is thought to favour a straight loan deal until the end of the season without a buy option, but the details of the transfer are still to be ironed out between the two clubs and the player.
Spurs agreed a fee worth in the region of £50million with Bayern for the transfer of Tel last week but the France forward initially rejected their advances because he was reluctant to leave the German club permanently.
Spurs, though, have revived the move on deadline day and Tel is set to arrive at Hotspur Way on Monday afternoon to complete a medical and finalise terms.
Manchester United, Chelsea and Aston Villa also expressed an interest in the 19-year-old during the window, while Arsenal explored a deal but did not move to take things further.
Tel has appeared 83 times for Bayern, scoring 16 times and providing seven assists, but has started just nine Bundesliga games since joining the club from French side Rennes in 2022.
Ange Postecoglou, the Spurs head coach, is believed to have spoken directly to Tel to convince him of Spurs' project, having repeatedly called for a new forward this winter.
Spurs are currently without Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson, Timo Werner and Wilson Odobert due to injury, while Richarlison and Mikey Moore spent the majority of the first half of the season on the sidelines.
