Matilde Matos signs first Benfica deal to 2029 | OneFootball

Benfica have tied down teenage midfielder Matilde Matos, a highly rated academy prospect, to her first professional contract, running until 2029.

According to Glorioso 1904, the 16-year-old will link up with the women's first team for pre-season in 2026/27, working with the six-time national champions. A box-to-box talent, she has been at the club since 2018.

Matos views the new agreement as recognition of her progress and wants to make the most of each season. She says hard work remains key and believes the future will be bright.

A Benfica supporter since she first took up the game, she had always dreamt of wearing the club's shirt. She says signing this contract is a childhood dream realised.

She has represented Portugal at under-15, under-16, under-17 and under-18 levels. She regards this step as another chance to grow on and off the pitch.
