January is just a couple of weeks way now, and as you might expect transfer rumours are really starting to heat up.
We’ve just had our first transfer bomb in some time from the well connected Telegraph Chelsea man, Matt Law. He focuses on the Blues midfield, which continues to be a problem area.

Law says that Chelsea recruitment in 2026 will centre on “boosting the club’s midfield options and easing the load placed on Moisés Caicedo and Enzo Fernández.”
With Andrey Santos, Dario Essugo and Romeo Lavia already in place, Chelsea should be covered. But Lavia is in them midst of a third injury ravaged campaign since signing for the club, and Essugo is having an equally poor start to his Chelsea career, being yet to play a minute for us this season having arrived in the summer.
That’s meant Malo Gusto and Reece James playing a lot in midfield, weakening our options elsewhere in the team.
“Chelsea will sign at least one new midfielder in 2026,” Law continues. “Work has already started on next summer’s window, with Chelsea identifying the midfield as a key area to address and researching potential targets.”
Former midfield targets named here include Kobbie Mainoo and Adam Wharton. What we need above all is someone reliable and available.
Speaking of summer transfers, a lot of fans weren’t keen on the idea of signing Alejandro Garnacho in the summer just gone, but they’re coming around to it now that he’s playing well and scoring goals.
Marc Cucurella has been brutally run into the ground by a punishing schedule for Chelsea and Italy, and the stats are out now which show just how crazy his run has been.
