The rather eyebrow raising events on Moises Caicedo’s social media account yesterday have now had a semi official response from the midfielder, via the well connected Telegraph writer Matt Law.
Caicedo announced on his Instagram that he was no longer represented by Manuel Sierra, and added that the increasingly influential Ali Barat is not his agent.

The stinging line that the midfielder “has now appointed people he can trust” seemed pointed – but according to Law’s account, the post was taken down because that line had been misinterpreted.
Chelsea “have no concern” over Caicedo’s future, and are not worried that this changing around has anything to do with his future at the club. His current contract runs until 2031, with a club option of another year. There was some concern that this off the field kerfuffle was related to a dispute in agreeing a new deal with him, but everyone seems confident that’s not the case.
“Sources close to the player describe Caicedo as a humble character who would not attempt to enhance his personal situation in public,” Law writes.
“Caicedo is expected to be rewarded for his performances and standing within the Chelsea squad, but this could be done through adjustments to his current deal or triggering certain performance-related bonuses.”
Unlike Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson, key players who were given new deals a year ago, Caicedo was already on a big salary and Chelsea are reluctant to raise it further.
Antoine Semenyo has a release clause in his contract which could make him a target for Chelsea in the future.
While Chelsea consider signing Semenyo this summer, one of their recent winger additions has been heavily criticised, with Alan Smith knocking Jamie Gittens and the decision to sign him.
