Lazio and Fenerbahce are on the cusp of reaching a full agreement for the transfer of Matteo Guendouzi.
After unlocking their market, the Biancocelesti aren’t waiting any time this January. They have already sold Taty Castellanos to West Ham United for €30 million, and they’re about to replace him with RB Salzburg striker Petar Ratkov, who should soon arrive on a €13 million deal. The next moves should concern the midfield, beginning with Guenduzi’s sale.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Fenerbahce have raised their offer for the French midfielder, which should be enough to find an accord with Lazio. The Turkish giants had initially proposed €25 million plus €2 million in bonus, while Claudio Lotito had been holding out for €30 million.
With the Istanbul-based club satisfying Lazio’s demands, Guendouzi is now expected to leave in the next few days. However, the transfer market insider expects the 26-year-old to remain at Maurizio Sarri’s disposal until the end of the week to take part in the action against Fiorentina on Wednesday and Hellas Verona on Sunday, before departing towards Turkiye at the start of the new week.
This would allow Lazio additional time to bring in a replacement for the former Arsenal and Olympique Marseille man. The main candidate for the role appears to be Bologna’s Giovanni Fabbian, even though Sarri still prefers a reunion with AC Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
