Mauro Icardi ‘to agree’ Benfica move after Galatasaray exit | OneFootball

According to Glorioso 1904, Mauro Icardi is close to agreeing a deal to become Benfica’s new striker after ending his time at Galatasaray.

If completed, Marco Silva would add a forward with vast international experience and a prolific scoring record. Icardi had already been linked with the club in recent weeks.

He made his name at Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain before heading to Galatasaray, where he again showcased his finishing and became a leading figure in the attack of the team from Türkiye.

Last season he played 47 competitive matches across the Turkish league, Champions League, Turkish Cup and Super Cup. In 2,093 minutes he scored 16 goals and provided three assists, rekindling interest from several European clubs.

Icardi joined Galatasaray in 2022/23 on loan from PSG. After a standout year with 23 goals and eight assists in only 26 games, the Istanbul club made the transfer permanent for about 10 million euros.

There is no official confirmation of any agreement, but the possibility of the Argentine strengthening Benfica’s attack is gathering momentum and could develop in the coming days.
