Memphis Depay’s physiotherapist arrives in Brazil to work with Corinthians | OneFootball

Memphis Depay’s physiotherapist, Fermin Valera, has arrived in Brazil to work with Corinthians’ medical department on the forward’s recovery. Club executive Marcelo Paz said in a video that Valera will integrate with the staff to help accelerate his return.

Valera treated Memphis during his recent spell with the Netherlands, carrying out work in Madrid and in the Netherlands, and is now working alongside the club’s medical team at CT Joaquim Grava.

Depay sustained a grade 2 muscle injury to the front of his right thigh in the first half against Flamengo, in the eighth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, on 22 March. He has also been managing pain in his left knee, treated with an intra-articular hyaluronic acid injection overseen by Valera.

He was ruled out of the Netherlands’ fixtures in the last FIFA window, completing part of his rehabilitation with Valera in Spain and the Netherlands before returning to Brazil and reporting back at CT Joaquim Grava.

The striker has been pushing to speed up his comeback and tried to be ready for the Dérbi, but persistent discomfort kept him out.

Valera previously handled Rodrigo Garro’s right knee patellar tendinopathy in a procedure carried out in April last year.
