Both teams were unable to break each other's defensive line in the first 45 minutes, reaching halftime with a goalless score.

Brazil found the net in the 78’ thanks to a goal by Kaylane. Mexico equalized in the 90’+6’ through an own goal from Evelin.

Mexico’s star goalkeeper Valentina Murrieta made a crucial save in the 90’+10’ to send the match to a penalty shootout.

Murrieta shined again under the posts, stopping Brazil's third and fourth attempt, helping Mexico take the advantage after missing in the first round of spot kicks.

Fernanda Monroy scored the winning penalty to send Mexico back to the U-17 Women’s World Cup podium for the first time since 2018, this time taking bronze medal honors for the first time.
