Michael Carrick is on the verge of eclipsing a long-standing Manchester United record after extending his unbeaten run at the helm with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Everton on Monday.

Across two separate spells in the dugout—his initial caretaker stint in 2021 and his current tenure as head coach—Carrick remains unbeaten in nine matches.

Only two United managers have overseen more matches from the start of their tenure without defeat: Ole Gunnar Solskjær, who managed 11 games unbeaten, and Herbert Bamlett, who went 10 matches before his first loss.

Carrick’s current tally of nine matches (W7, D2) places him third on this distinguished list, surpassing several legendary figures who have graced the Old Trafford dugout.

Since his appointment in January 2026 as Ruben Amorim’s successor, Carrick has overseen a remarkable turnaround in the club’s fortunes.

Under his leadership, United have collected 16 points from a possible 18—a run that has included victories over Manchester City, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur.

As a result, the 44-year-old was named Premier League Manager of the Month for January and has wasted no time in steering his side back to winning ways following a 1-1 draw with West Ham United.

Monday’s victory over Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium saw United climb to fourth in the Premier League table, three points clear of both Chelsea and Liverpool.
