Michael Olise wants to leave Bayern Munich for Real Madrid this summer, and has made that clear in private during France’s camp.

Foot Mercato revealed that ambition on Wednesday. He has sounded out Kylian Mbappé and Aurélien Tchouaméni about Madrid’s dressing-room dynamics and the club’s testing season. Whether Mbappé could lobby decision-makers remains open.

Dayot Upamecano has been urging him to stay, mixing banter with the argument that Bayern offer trophies in a demanding, rewarding environment.

At 24, after two seasons in Bavaria, Olise feels it is time to join what he views as the game’s biggest institution. He is coming off his best year, 27 goals and 33 assists in 68 games, and is contracted to 2029.

Madrid know his position and plan to move after the World Cup, though Bayern are firm. Florentino Pérez is a keen admirer, valuing Olise’s flair and link with Mbappé, and sees him as a rare modern Galáctico. Mbappé’s close bond with Olise, and cooler ties with Jude Bellingham, mean extra competition for Bellingham’s place would not faze him.

Madrid top global revenues for three years, hit a €1.161bn record last season, and have already banked €138m this summer. Sales would still be needed to balance squad and books.

Vinicius, out of contract next June, has not renewed, and a sale is not excluded if he rejects the terms, which would cut wages and help fund Olise. Would Madrid go to €200-€250m? Olise knows it will be difficult yet remains determined.
