Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough drew 0-0 at Ewood Park, a result that keeps the visitors second in the Championship.

Early on, in the fifth minute Luke Ayling's drive from the right was pushed away by Balazs Toth. Aidan Morris shot wide from the centre (13.), then Ryoya Morishita drew a save from Sol Brynn before the break.

David Strelec was denied from close range on the stroke of half time. After the restart, Morris again forced Toth down low, and Boro piled on set pieces without reward.

After Todd Cantwell and Harry Pickering entered (64.), Blackburn Rovers found more bite on the counter. Yuki Ohashi later slipped Morishita through for a chance that flashed wide (88.).

Adilson Malanda headed wide from Callum Brittain's delivery in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time.

Boro dominated the ball with 71.3% possession, producing 12 attempts and 11 corners. Blackburn Rovers mustered five attempts and three corners.

Next, Blackburn Rovers visit Birmingham. Boro host Millwall.
