Toffees manager David Moyes wants Hackney and the 24-year-old also wants the move to the Merseyside club, rejecting Crystal Palace and other suitors.

Personal terms have been agreed given that medical tests will start tomorrow, and Everton could announce his signing this week as planned.

The Blues could end up signing two players before Sunday, with talks also ongoing for a permanent deal for Chelsea winger Tyrique George.

The England youth international spent the second half of last season on loan with Everton, and negotiations between both clubs could be concluded by the end of this week.

Adding both Hackney and George to their squad is a huge boost for the Toffees, and Moyes will hope the Friedkin Group will continue backing him in the summer transfer window.

He is desperate to lead his side to Europe next season after last term’s underwhelming finish to the Premier League campaign saw them miss out on continental football.

Everton need more quality signings and adding the creativity of the Boro star and the Chelsea forward to their attack is a perfect way to begin the summer.

They are also keeping tabs on West Ham United attacker Jarrod Bowen, with the Englishman expected to leave the Hammers following relegation.

New names will emerge in the coming weeks, and getting the best players will boost Everton’s chances of impressing across all competitions next term.
