When we host Alessandro Schöpf & Co in Salzburg this Wednesday, 23 April at 18:30 Austrian time, we know we need a really good performance to claim three big points. The visitors are still unbeaten in the championship round, are fresh from a 5-1 win against Rapid Vienna and are also in the final of the UNIQA ÖFB Cup.
The good news is the last defeat taken by Didi Kühbauer's side came against us in the final match of the regular season at the Red Bull Arena. Our recent record with our fans behind us against WAC is encouraging. Our Red Bulls have won their last five Bundesliga home matches against the visitors, conceding just one goal in the process (with a goal difference of 10-1).
With just six matches remaining of the season, points are essential if we are to close the gap on league leaders Sturm Graz (who have a difficult match against Austria Vienna later on Wednesday at 20:30). WAC's rich vein of form has kept them hot on our heels, however, and they are just two points behind in fourth place in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga. WAC clearly know how to keep plugging away late on - with their 18 goals putting them at the top of the substitutes' goals charts, with Kojzek alone netting seven times after coming on. We will be able to call on our top goal contributor Oscar Gloukh again, after he missed our most recent encounters following a tonsil operation.
We can definitely expect an intense battle in the title race this Wednesday evening. Everything you need to know about coming to the stadium can be found in our matchday info as usual. Tickets for the clash are available online.
Anyone not able to be there in person at the Red Bull Arena can follow the encounter via live text updates on our website. The match can be watched on TV in Austria with a Sky Sport Austria subscription, and streamed on OneFootball internationally.

WAC are only two points behind us, are in the cup final and are having a superb season. We can remember our last clash against them well, as we won it but had a tough battle in the second half. We will have to be ready to face very strong opponents. It is always important that the longer you go into the match, the more stable you have to be defensively and give the opponents as little as possible, as a team. Stability will always be the focus. It doesn't matter to me if we offer a spectacle or play more tightly and tidily. The bottom line is it is all about winning matches.

Our win in Vienna was important, as we have been able to move on from the Sturm defeat and gain lots of confidence to take into the match against WAC. We know how things look in the table, of course, but we aren't looking too closely at it. We just want to win as many matches as possible and keep the pressure on the leaders. We need to win again on Wednesday for that. We are facing a really strong team though that are not in the cup final for no reason.
