According to O Jogo, Miguel Layún, a former FC Porto footballer, will serve as ambassador for the club’s Dragon Force programme in Mexico City, taking on a liaison role with the Mexican market as part of Porto’s international expansion.
The programme in Mexico is developed with Highlands International School and is based in Mexico City.
Layún said joining the project feels special and that he wants to help create genuine opportunities for young Mexicans to grow in a competitive, educational environment with strong values. He added that this is only the beginning of a path he believes could generate new chances for youth football in the country.
Porto views Mexico as a key market for its growth and aims to consolidate its presence there. The club already has an academy in Monterrey.
Layún played for Porto from 2015 to 2017, making 80 appearances with 11 goals and 22 assists.
