Mikel Arteta has been named Premier League Manager of the Season after guiding Arsenal to the title.

According to L'Équipe, it is the club's first managerial honour since Arsène Wenger and follows several years of work and a few frustrating second-place finishes.

The Spaniard succeeds Arne Slot, honoured last year after Liverpool's title, and is only the second Arsenal manager to win the award, with Wenger taking it three times.

He beat Pep Guardiola, already a five-time winner, and Régis Le Bris, the French Sunderland coach who secured Europa League qualification in his first season in the top flight.

Keith Andrews of Brentford, Michael Carrick of Manchester United and Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth were also shortlisted.

Arteta's campaign is not over. The former midfielder will contest the Champions League final against PSG on Saturday at 18:00 and is approaching the occasion with confidence.
