Serie A side Milan are nearing a move for Lazio’s Mario Gila, after initially agreeing personal terms with the defender.
Many clubs have been pursuing a move for the Spaniard, with Atalanta having had a move rejected even if they agreed terms with Lazio. Napoli were also interested but needed exits to seal a move.
Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that after the blitz on Thursday, July 2nd, the Rossoneri have reached an agreement with the player and his agent on a five-year contract worth €5 million net. The club expects to close the deal with Lazio between Monday and Tuesday and is aware of the €30 million request, split between €25 million fixed salary and €5 million in bonuses.
Napoli were also definitively overtaken as they were offering slightly lower terms on the salary. And since the clubs never reached an agreement, as Napoli must first finalize some outgoing deals, the Rossoneri have entered the race and have the 2000-born Spanish defender in their grasp.
Since Gila’s current deal at Lazio runs out in 2027, the club have no option but to sell him. Milan have taken advantage of this and the deal is quite good, as Gila has been very consistent for his club. He has also played in midfield and adds a lot of value to the squad.
