The Juventus Women’s First Team came up short at home to Milan on Serie A Women Matchday 16, with the Rossonere running out 1-0 winners in Biella.
The game’s first chance fell the way of the Bianconere. Paulina Krumbiegel had it, after some nice work from Ana Capeta, but couldn’t put her chance away. About ten minutes later it was Chiara Beccari’s turn to try her luck, but couldn’t quite connect with a headed effort.
Massimiliano Canzi was forced into an early change to his side when Viola Calligaris left the pitch through injury, leaving Emma Kullberg to come on in her place.
The assistant’s flag thwarted the Bianconere then, with Capeta having the ball in the net but seeing it ruled out for offside.
Things heated up a little before the break. A mix-up between Kullberg and Cecilia Salvai at the back gave the visitors a chance, but Kayleigh van Dooren could only hit the post after an excellent set-up from Thea Kyvag. Then, the Bianconere went straight down the other end and won a penalty when Kay-Lee de Sanders was judged to have brought Capeta down. But Emma Stolen Godo saw her penalty saved by Sandra Estevez in the Milan goal.
Having come close to an assist earlier, Kyvag got her goal early in the second half. Giorgia Arrigoni set things up, and Christy Grimshaw nodded it on for the Norwegian to finish past Danielle de Jong.
Both Krumbiegel and Godo looked to react for the Bianconere, but without any luck.
At the other end, De Jong was repeatedly on call to keep the visitors from getting a second.
