22-year-old Rodez forward Tairyk Arconte impressed during the 25/26 Ligue 2 season

Millwall will be looking to bounce back from play-off disappointment next season, after what was a frustrating end to their 2025/26 league campaign.

The Lions finished third in the Championship table, and were unlucky not to force themselves into the automatic promotion places, as Ipswich Town edged them out in the final few weeks of the campaign.

Many fancied Millwall to win promotion into the Premier League via the play-offs, but they were beaten by Hull City over two legs, with the Tigers eventually going on to book their top-flight return after a win over Middlesbrough in the final at Wembley.

This will be the east London club's tenth consecutive season in the Championship, and with their most recent campaign being their highest-ever finish in the second-tier, the club's supporters will be keen for their side to push on and go one step further in achieving promotion.

Of course, it won't be an easy task, especially with the likes of West Ham, Wolves, and Burnley dropping into the Championship, and it's certain that the race for promotion will be more competitive than ever.

Reinforcements are potentially needed for Millwall this summer, and it'll be an interesting few months ahead, as Alex Neil looks to add strength in depth to his squad before their season starts in August.

Millwall and Celtic eyeing transfer swoop for Tairyk Arconte

It seems as though Alex Neil is keen to add attacking options to his ranks in the near future, with it being reported by Foot Mercato that Millwall are keen on a deal to sign Rodez 'sensation', Tairyk Arconte.

Arconte has seemingly caught the eye for his strong showings during the 2025/26 season, with the Guadeloupe international netting 14 goals in all competitions this past term, as well as chipping in with four assists during their Ligue 2 campaign.

Although FotMob notes his position is a striker, he's also capable of playing as a right-winger.

The forward still has two years remaining on his contract with Rodez, and it remains to be seen whether the French club are willing to listen to any offers for Arconte heading into the summer transfer window.

A deal seemingly won't be easy to complete though, with Scottish giants Celtic also being credited with interest in signing Arconte, who is a player that has a bright future ahead of him, as he's still only 22-years-old.

Millwall already have some strong options in attacking areas of their squad, with the likes of Josh Coburn (pictured above), Macaulay Langstaff and Mihailo Ivanović being on their books heading into the 2026/27 season.

Therefore, there will be questions asked about whether another forward is needed at the club, as you would imagine that Arconte wouldn't be best pleased if he was to occupy a spot on the substitutes' bench on a regular basis. Given he can operate on the right, he may well be a Femi Azeez replacement.

As a striker, however, if he was given first-team assurances at Millwall, then it would be interesting to see what the future would hold for Macaulay Langstaff, who has found it tough to secure regular minutes in the Championship since moving to the club back in 2024.

Millwall would be making a real statement of intent if they were to beat Celtic to signing Arconte this summer, and so it'll be interesting to see whether they can get this deal over the line in the coming months.
