A minute's silence was held before Côte d’Ivoire’s Group F meeting with Cameroon on Sunday, honouring Jean-Louis Gasset, who died on Friday aged 72.
According to L'Équipe, the tribute came moments before the Africa Cup of Nations clash.
Gasset led the Elephants from May 2022 to January 2024, his only spell as a national team head coach.
His record in charge was 10 wins, 3 draws and 4 defeats. He resigned during the tournament hosted by Côte d’Ivoire after a 0-4 loss to Equatorial Guinea.
For much of his career he worked in club football as head coach or assistant with Montpellier, PSG, Bordeaux, Saint-Étienne and OM. He was Laurent Blanc’s assistant with France between 2010 and 2012.
