Monaco’s Paul Pogba in line for further minutes, depsite late arrival for session?

Paul Pogba (33) almost doubled his minutes in an AS Monaco shirt when he came off the bench in last Friday’s 4-1 defeat to Paris FC, playing 21 minutes. Having signed a two-year deal in the summer, it was only in November that he made his debut and, three cameos later, he was once again unavailable. After sustaining a calf injury at the start of December, he missed a further three months of action. His return against Paris FC last week was a welcome one.

However, there is scrutiny and questions about how Pogba – more specifically his body – will react. La Pioche participated in the full session on Wednesday, which was open to the press. However, in Friday’s session, the first 15 minutes of which were open to the press, the former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder was initially absent.

He did, however, emerge seven minutes after the official start of the session and trained with his teammates, and speaking in the pre-match press conference attended by Get French Football News, Sébastien Pocognoli downplayed any concern.

“It is because you’re here today that you see that. He had an activation to do inside. Nothing more. He was at Open Training. You could judge his session. The players are fit, they’re available, and if they are, they all have a role to play,” said the Monaco manager. With Lamine Camara suspended for Sunday’s match against AJ Auxerre, Pogba may be in line for further minutes.
