According to Globo.com, Monsalve has progressed in his recovery from a left thigh injury and could be included for Grêmio’s trip to Juventude on Sunday at 18:00 at Alfredo Jaconi.
The club is keeping his involvement under wraps and the Colombian midfielder remains under special care. Coach Luís Castro wants to have him available, with limited options in the creative area.
Willian has a muscle oedema and is also a doubt. The remaining options are Jefinho, who came on at half-time against Juventude at the Arena, and Cristaldo, who has lost ground in recent games.
Monsalve has endured a series of setbacks at Grêmio, the latest a grade-one strain in the left hamstring announced on 5 February. On 7 January, the club reported an exacerbation of a right ankle ligament injury, linked to a blow suffered in training last November. In July, he dislocated his right shoulder, which sidelined him for about two months.
Amid these issues, he has struggled to string together starts. This year he has played only two matches, against the same Juventude in the first phase of the Gauchão, when he scored Grêmio’s goal, and against Botafogo, when he went off injured.
