Monza goalkeeper Stefano Turati still insists Inter Milan wingback Federico Dimarco wasn’t even aiming towards goal when he beat him from 50 yards out.

The 23-year-old is an avid Nerazzurri supporter who started his career at the club’s academy.

However, he was eventually released before getting picked up by Sassuolo who still own his contract.

Turati made a name for himself in Serie A last term with some solid displays between the sticks while on loan at Frosinone.

This season, he is looking to deliver the goods for Monza. He is thus relishing a meeting against his beloved Inter on Sunday. However, he acknowledges it will be a daunting task for his new team.

“It will be difficult. The Nerazzurri are perhaps the strongest team in Italy at the moment. But let’s hope for the best,” said the Italian custodian in his interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews.

“We must play like a team. We need everyone’s collaboration. I alone could do little. Against the big teams you also need a bit of luck and in football, you just never know.”

Turati remains a die-hard Inter supporter, despite suffering rejection at an early age.

“I was little, I didn’t even process what happened. And today, I say every club legitimately decides what to do.

Apparently, I wasn’t as good as the others. It’s not a big deal.”

The young goalkeeper also looked back on the stunning goal he conceded last season at San Siro. He insists Dimarco was attempting a cross that went awry.

“Obviously I was disappointed. In my opinion, Dimarco didn’t want to shoot on goal, but that’s a personal opinion.

“The fact remains that he scored a great goal, with a perfect trajectory. After all, he is a great player, who has improved a lot in recent years.”
