José Mourinho has been given a timely lift on the eve of Porto v Benfica in the Portuguese Cup, with Bruma making encouraging progress in his comeback.
According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica remain active in the market for a winger but could find an internal solution as the Portugal international has returned to group training.
Club footage showed Bruma completing speed and sprint drills alongside team-mates, underlining his intent to force his way into the plans.
The winger suffered a complete rupture of his left Achilles tendon on 26 July during the Eusébio Cup against Fenerbahçe. The rehabilitation has been lengthy and is not yet fully complete, and he must regain peak condition before competing at the highest level.
He will not be available for Wednesday’s clássico at Porto, though he hopes to contribute in the decisive stretch of the campaign. Registered by Benfica in September, he still dreams of a Champions League outing, including a possible meeting with Real Madrid on 28 January at 20:00.
Signed from Sp. Braga for 6.5 million euros in the 2024/25 winter window, the 31-year-old is valued at 5 million euros. He has made 12 official appearances for Benfica so far, scoring one goal mainly as a rotation option.
