David Moyes says he is encouraged by the improvement shown by Thierno Barry and Merlin Rohl after Everton’s win over Aston Villa.
Barry scored the only goal of the game as the Toffees secured victory at Villa Park.
And while Moyes says he still has plenty to work on, he believes moments like that will be key for the striker.
“I always hoped he would come through,” Moyes said.
“I don’t think it’s easy coming from overseas as a young player into the Premier League, and I think it’s worse for Thierno being a young centre-forward trying to score goals in the Premier League.
“I think we’re going to have to give him time. There’s lots of things he needs to improve on greatly so we’re not getting carried away.
“But he gets the winning goal today and if you do that in important games then that means a lot.”
Rohl also impressed for Moyes’ side and after a difficult time with injury, Moyes says fans are starting to see more of what he can do.
“I think Evertonians might have just started to see a bit of Merlin Rohl today, a bit more,” he said.
“I see quite a lot from him in training. He’s been up and down a little bit. He came back from a hernia operation so I think he’s just beginning to get an idea of what the Premier League is like.
“He’s got loads to improve on as well but if we’re going to judge them so quickly, then we’re not going to give them an opportunity.
“The people who have watched Everton for many years whether it be Leighton Baines or Joleon Lescott or Phil Jagielka. They all had to bide their time before they got regular games here.”
