Newcastle United recorded a convincing 2-0 win over Chelsea last weekend to give their hopes of Champions League football next season a huge boost - and their winger Jacob Murphy reached an impressive milestone with his twelfth assist of the campaign. Eddie Howe's Magpies took the lead courtesy of Sandro Tonali's 2nd minute opener, which owed plenty to Murphy's pinpoint cross, before securing victory with a late strike from Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
The 30-year-old Murphy has now been involved in 20 Premier League goals (eight goals and 12 assists) this season, which places him in an exclusive group of English players in the top tier.
One of only three Englishmen to reach this landmark in 2024/25, Murphy trails only Cole Palmer (15G, 8A) and Ollie Watkins (16G, 7A) when it comes to goal participations, which will only lead to further speculation regarding a potential Three Lions call-up for the Magpies winger.
Only Liverpool's Mo Salah (12) has more assists than Murphy in the top flight this season, and the Newcastle man will look to add to his impressive stats in the Magpies penultimate game of the season at Arsenal on Sunday.
