In FC Bayern’s members‘ magazine „51“, Musiala talks about his new role and the expectations that come with it. „It has always been my dream to play for FC Bayern with the number 10,“ he says. At the same time, he makes no secret of the fact that this number is more than just a number on the shirt. He openly explains that he is aware of the additional pressure. He feels „the new pressure and responsibility“, but does not see it as a burden, but as motivation. Rather, the number gives him an „extra push“

He is aware of the history and significance of the number 10 at FC Bayern and in international soccer. Nevertheless, he does not want to be bent. „I got the number because I have delivered and performed over the years,“ he clarifies. Despite the new role, he does not want to change his style of play. „I will not change my style because of the number 10.“

Robben has had a particular influence on Musiala

The Bayern star does not describe himself as a classic old-style playmaker, but as a player who influences the game through dynamics, dribbling and spatial awareness. His strength lies in breaking up situations himself, breaking through lines and repeatedly occupying dangerous zones. This is precisely where he sees the modern interpretation of the number ten role

Musiala also looks back on role models, with Arjen Robben having a particular influence on him. The former Bayern star was his „great idol as a child“. This also explains Musiala’s understanding of responsibility: showing individual class, but always in the service of the team
