The Nigerian Genk striker is on Napoli’s shortlist following the Red Devil’s serious injury
Tolu Arokodare / Genk
Napoli are exploring the Tolu Arokodare option to cover for the absence of Romelu Lukaku. The Italian club has reportedly already established contact with the camp of Genk’s Nigerian striker. The Serie A champions are urgently seeking a replacement after their star forward suffered an injury.
Tolu Arokodare has caught Napoli’s eye after a season marked by strong performances in Belgium. The Nigerian centre-forward, under contract with Genk until June 2027, finished as the top scorer in the Jupiler Pro League and was awarded the Ebony Shoe. Despite his success, no transfer has yet materialized, even though the player was hoping to move on this summer.
Racing Genk have not blocked his departure, but the lack of a concrete offer has stalled negotiations. Arokodare started the season on the bench, with the club opting for South Korean striker Oh to lead the line. This situation has created internal tensions, as the player is eager to test himself at a higher level.
Tolu Arokodare is now among Napoli’s targets to fill the void left by Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian international is suffering from a serious thigh injury that will sideline him for two to three months. This situation has forced Antonio Conte to rethink his attacking plans and scour the transfer market. The Napoli board has compiled a long list of potential candidates. Rasmus Højlund of Manchester United is reportedly the top priority, but his signing would be difficult to secure.
As for Tolu Arokodare, his profile is seen as particularly attractive by the Napoli hierarchy. Genk value him at around €25 million, a figure within Napoli’s reach.
