Serie A giants Napoli are well in the hunt to find a replacement for Antonio Conte. While Maurizio Sarri has been regularly mentioned as a candidate, Milan boss Max Allegri’s candidacy is only growing.
It has been clear that the Lazio manager is a leading contender, with a contract on the table for him. But Atalanta are also pushing, leaving the Italian in the middle of a dilemma.
Corriere della Sera – via Calciomercato, report that in recent days, Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna held a dinner meeting with Allegri. During this, they addressed the two-year deal which was offered to the Italian last year before he took over at the Rossoneri.
Napoli will still be happy to offer that and that was Manna’s stance. But Allegri is currently stalling, as he is yet to be sure about his future at Milan.
He has made certain demands at the Rossoneri, who need to meet those or they will lose out the chance to keep him. Allegri wants to reunite with Adriano Galliani and doesn’t want Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Giorgio Furlani at Milan. If these demands – plus him having more of a say in transfers, is not met, Allegri will not continue. This can then open the door to a move to Napoli.
A politician manager suits Napoli quite a bit. Even Conte had to adapt to the needs of the squad in his tenure at the club and tht is something Allegri has done throughout his career. At Juve, he actually oveperformed on his resources, helping them to silverware.
Napoli would love nothing more and this would also allow De Laurentiis to have some control over affairs, especially as Allegri is quite flexible from a tactical perspective.
