Shock reports from England suggest Manchester United star Marcus Rashford could switch to Serie A to join Napoli instead of Milan. According to The Sun, the Englishman’s heavily anticipated transfer to the San Siro is on the verge of ‘collapse.’
It seemsMilan’s concerns over Rashford’s fitness could sink the deal. Despite holding frequent talks with the forward’s agent, the 19-time Italian champions consider pulling the plug on negotiations. Milan’s withdrawal would pave the wave for Napoli.
Man Utd co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already blocked Premier League clubs. Therefore, Rashford will only leave Old Trafford for a foreign club, with Napoli emerging as a potential destination. Head coach Antonio Conte is reportedly a ‘huge’ admirer of the 27-year-old.
With Khvicha Kvaratskhelia one step away from becoming a new Paris Saint-Germain star, Napoli must add to Conte’s attacking options. Rashford ticks all the boxes for the type of player Aurelio De Laurentiis would want to see in the Georgian winger’s place.
During his glory days at Old Trafford, Rashford was one of Europe’s deadliest forwards. Not long ago, Barcelona and Real Madrid had inquired about his services, only to be rebuffed by Man Utd. Barca’s finances have since plummeted while Kylian Mbappe joined Los Blancos.
As such, Napoli may have a free path to Rashford. The Red Devils’ wantaway ace has already turned down Saudi clubs, insisting on his ambition to regain a place on the England national team.
Conte could even use Scott McTominay’s friendship with Rashford to convince the versatile forward to come to Napoli.
