The second legs of the Concacaf Champions Cup round-of-16 clashes are underway this week across Central and North America.

Inter Miami's 2026 campaign has taken a severe early body blow tonight after the Herons crashed out of the Concacaf Champions Cup on aggregate at the hands of MLS rival Nashville after a 1-1 draw.

An early strike from Lionel Messi, the 900th of his ludicrous career, seemingly set Javier Mascherano's side on the pathway to progression to the quarterfinals, only for the MLS Cup holder to fall short in putting their stamp of authority on proceedings in South Florida.

In what would turn into a tale of two halves, B.J. Callaghan's Boys in Gold would slowly but surely work their way back into the second-leg bout, ultimately being rewarded with a match-leveler from Cristian Espinoza in the 74th minute, gifting Nashville the golden away goal tie-breaker.

After eliminating Nashville from the MLS Cup playoffs last term, the full-circle result sees the Herons crash out of a competition that was deemed a priority this season.
