Wolves have appointed Cesar Peixoto as head coach, with executive chairman Nathan Shi confident he has the character to handle the role. According to ExpressAndStar.com, Shi views the Portuguese as a strong match for the club’s needs.
Peixoto has signed a two-year deal at Molineux, replacing sacked boss Rob Edwards. He is tasked with taking Wolves back into the Premier League at the first attempt.
The 46-year-old has never managed outside his homeland. His best finish came last season, sixth in the Portuguese top flight with Gil Vicente.
Shi outlined the requirements of a clear identity, firm leadership and a real hunger to succeed. Peixoto’s mentality, work ethic and readiness to embrace the challenge particularly stood out to him.
He also characterised Peixoto as young, energetic and ambitious, as well as thoughtful and accountable, willing to challenge himself and colleagues in pursuit of improvement. Shi believes he will be an excellent fit for Wolves’ culture and vision as the club seeks to recover from one of the worst seasons in their history.
