Denzel Dumfries admits that “it wasn’t easy” for Inter Milan in the wake of last weekend’s Serie A loss against Juventus.
The Dutchman spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, ahead of today’s Serie A clash with Genoa. He looked back on the Derby d’Italia and its effect on the team.
Inter Milan fell to defeat against Juventus last Sunday.
The Derby d’Italia against the Bianconeri is certainly never a fixture that Inter want to lose. The rivalry against Juventus is a bitter and historic one.
Then, there is the fact that Inter had had the chance to go top of the table in that match, after Napoli had drawn against Lazio the previous day. Instead, the Nerazzurri fell a further point behind the league leaders.
And Inter had certainly had their chances to get something more out of last weekend’s match.
In the first half of the match, in particularly, the Nerazzurri had truthfully looked the superior side.
But a combination of wastefulness in front of goal and a complacent attitude in the second half allowed Juventus to stun Inter in the second half.
Now, Inter have a chance to bounce back against Genoa.
The Nerazzurri will feel that three points are virtually obligatory from this evening’s match. Particularly in view of next weekend’s top-of-the-table clash with Napoli.

Inter wingback Denzel Dumfries admitted that “It’s never easy after a loss against Juve.”
“It’s always a very important match,” said the Dutchman.
“We worked hard in training afterwards, and talked about it a lot,” said Dumfries.
“Now we have to show that we want to win the league.”
Meanwhile, Denzel Dumfries spoke about his own form and his own situation. “I’m happy,” said the Dutchman. “I feel good, and I work every day to grow.”
