Manchester City may now reportedly be increasingly open to selling Rodri to Real Madrid as talks over a new contract have been put on hold.

Rodri has been linked with Real Madrid by Fabrizio Romano in a recent post on his Instagram, and it seems speculation is continuing to hot up ahead of the summer.

The Spain international himself has also refused to rule out a move to the Bernabeu, playing down talk that his past ties to Atletico Madrid could stop him playing there.

According to TEAMtalk, it now seems that both Man City and Rodri are increasingly open to going their separate ways this summer.

What Rodri said about Real Madrid transfer

“I have a year left on my contract. There will come a point when we’ll have to sit down and talk,” Rodri said, as quoted by Sky Sports.

“There are other players who’ve taken that path (between both Madrid clubs). Not directly, but over time. You can’t turn down the best clubs in the world.

“I would like to return (to La Liga) yes, of course. For me, LaLiga is where I started. I still follow it, not as much as before, but I still follow it. But right now, I am very happy here (in the Premier League).”

Manchester City’s plans to replace Rodri

The report from TEAMtalk also mentions that City are already looking at big names like Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali to replace Rodri.

Rodri’s immense performances have seen him win four Premier League titles, the Champions League, and even the prestigious Ballon d’Or award during his time at City.

He will leave big boots to fill if he does end up leaving Manchester this summer, and there’s no doubt he’d also be a very exciting signing for Real Madrid.
