New face spotted in Barcelona training before Elche | OneFootball

A new face was spotted in the latest training session held by La Liga champions Barcelona on Saturday.

This came as Hansi Flick afforded a chance to impress to defender Mamadou Mbacke.

Stopper Mbacke was for his part a regular feature in first-team training during Xavi’s team on the bench at the Camp Nou.

Since the arrival of Hansi Flick, however, the 22-year-old had been largely overlooked, whilst plying his trade with Barca Atlètic.

But on Saturday, he was back in the thick of things at the Ciutat Esportiva, joining the Blaugrana’s star-studded ranks in first-team training.

Mbacke’s presence comes with Barcelona experiencing something of an injury crisis at present, with Andreas Christensen the most notable absentee from the Catalans’ defensive setup.

Ahead of Sunday’s La Liga meeting with Elche, it is therefore not out of the question that the Senegalese could be afforded a matchday call-up.
