It ended Newcastle 2 Chelsea 0.
A massive win for Eddie Howe and his team.
With the fine margins and luck having regularly gone against them recently, Wednesday night should be massive for both confidence and renewed momentum hopefully.
Two goals only three minutes apart midway through the opening half decided that contest, a great night at St James’ Park.
Looking at the individuals in black and white, interesting to get an independent perspective on how this played out.
‘Whoscored ratings use data from every single Premier League match, over 200 raw statistics included in the automated calculation of a player’s rating, weighted according to their influence within the game.
Every event of importance is taken into account, with a positive or negative effect on ratings weighted in relation to its area on the pitch and its outcome.’
Now whoscored have published their independent player ratings for this Newcastle 2 Chelsea 0 match:
(The Whoscored display can only show four subs at a time, Bruno was rated 6.4)
As you can see, seven players received a rating of 7.0 or more.
With all seven of them playing in black and white!
Nick Pope (7.9) getting man of the match, an excellent performance (give or take the odd struggle dealing with high balls into the box) and deserved clean sheet.
A think it was a night when everybody contributed but certainly Krafth (7.6) and Joelinton (7.4) were excellent. Also Isak (7.4), Schar (7.3), Tonali (7.3) and Hall (7.0).
