Alexander Isak is the prized possession of Newcastle United. The Magpies are not ready to let him go. But, the interest from rivals is growing rapidly as the summer transfer window approaches. So, Newcastle were ready to offer him a new contract.
Isak joined the Magpies in the summer of 2022. Since then, the Swedish international has become a talismanic figure. He etched his name in Newcastle’s history by scoring a crucial goal in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool which gave the Magpies the lead.
His current contract ends in 2028. However, the Newcastle hierarchy was ready to offer Isak an improved contract. However, amidst growing interest from clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal, it looks like the contract discussions have come to a dead end.
According to the latest Newcastle transfer news from CaughtOffside, Newcastle have stopped the negotiations of the new contract of Alexander Isak. The club is now looking at a different approach to the situation. Both Arsenal and Liverpool are looking to sign a new striker.
Arsenal needs a striker who can score 25 goals a season. For Liverpool, they are relying on Mohamed Salah this season. But, his contract ends at the end of the season. He is yet to renew his contract at Anfield. So, Liverpool must try to sign a player who can score goals.
With both clubs looking to sign the Swedish striker, the Magpies could demand a high transfer fee which they can invest in bringing in a replacement. Newcastle already have a replacement lined up for Alexander Isak. If the Swedish international leaves, the Magpies can pursue that player.
The Sporting Lisbon striker Victor Gyokeres has become a target for a number of European clubs. However, according to the same report from CaughtOffside, Newcastle is looking at Victor Gyokeres as the potential replacement for Alexander Isak.
Isak’s compatriot can be a perfect replacement for him. He has already netted 28 times in 25 appearances in Liga Portugal. His current market value is around €75m. If Isak leaves, Newcastle can easily pursue a deal for the striker. And, Gyokeres would love to play in the Premier League.
However, Manchester United are also in line to sign the striker. Gyokeres has a good relationship with the current United boss Ruben Amorim having played under him in Portugal. So, it will be interesting to see whether Newcastle can sign Victor Gyokeres. We will keep a close eye on this Newcastle transfer news about Victor Gyokeres to Newcastle if Alexander Isak leaves.
