Looking at these Premier League fixtures in this round of matches.
Seeing the other games from a Newcastle United perspective.
Eddie Howe and his players kicking off at 2pm in their Sunday match at home to Nottingham Forest.
This weekend the Premier League fixtures started on Friday night, Fulham leading 1-0 but Bournemouth at home scoring three late goals to go second top of the table.
Now, four other Premier League fixtures on Saturday.
Then five on Sunday including the NUFC match.
As a Newcastle United fan, have a look at this weekend’s other Premier League fixtures and have a think about what you’d like to happen and what is likely in terms of results.

My Conclusions
Saturday 4 October 2025
Leeds v Spurs (12.30pm)
Leeds are doing more than ok. Especially if you take away the 5-0 hammering at Arsenal and a cup defeat at Sheff Wed, when Farke played a weakened team.
In their other five Premier League matches they have won two, drawn two and lost one. It would have been three wins but their last match saw (now second in the table) Bournemouth get a 93rd minute winner. Whilst their only other league defeat apart from the Arsenal one, was when conceding an own goal in the 94th minute so that Fulham won 1-0.
I suppose you can give Spurs credit for coming back late in matches but their last three games have seen then pick up draws against Brighton, Wolves and Bodo/Glimt. They didn’t play well in any of these matches and were two down at Brighton only to end up getting an undeserved draw thanks to an 82nd minute own goal. Trailing at home to Wolves it was a 94th minute equaliser. Whilst the Norwegian side were far superior and should have won easily, going two goals up but then Spurs eventually getting a point from an 89th minute own goal.
I don’t think Spurs have improved much at all on last season and won’t be bothering the upper end of the table, whilst Leeds look capable of avoiding a relegation struggle. I am split between predicting a home win or a draw, probably going with another lucky point for Spurs.
Pretty much everyone will see this as a home banker and difficult to disagree.
Nuno managed to get a draw at Everton in his first match, after the Hammers had lost five of six games.
However, we all saw how good Arsenal are capable of playing last Sunday at SJP, if they play anything like that then they will win. The only hope for West Ham is that the Gunners haven’t managed to reach those levels all the time this season and in midweek Olympiakos almost picked up a draw at the Emirates. The very late second goal flattering Arsenal.
Still, surely this will be a home win unless Nuno pulls off an all-out defensive shut out.
Man U v Sunderland (3pm)
One of those matches where you wonder what you want. I can never want the Mackems to win but on the other hand I don’t want Man U fluking a series of wins and ending up in a decent place in the table, then suddenly start playing well. I know that is very unlikely, considering Man U look just as rubbish this season as last, under the clueless Amorim.
However, on balance I suppose a draw would be the preferred result, also the most likely.
Sunderland are showing some resilience after spending big in the summer and also carried the luck. Even if Man U won today, they would remain below the Mackems.
A goalless draw is my prediction.
Chelsea v Liverpool (5.30pm)
The darlings of the media meet in this one. Both of them hyped ridiculously in my opinion, compared to the reality.
Both of them carrying a lot of luck in the early matches and Chelsea had more of that luck when very fortunate to win 1-0 at home to Benfica in midweek. However, their last three league matches counting back have been a 3-1 hammering at home by Brighton, a very poor 2-1 defeat at Man U, as well as a draw at Brentford.
The media were in denial about Liverpool, average at best in most matches and so so lucky with a series of late and very late winning goals.
That outrageous luck now not at the same levels, defeats to both Crystal Palace and Galatasaray, although Liverpool still very lucky not to lose both matches by bigger scorelines.
I think a draw is most likely here and very possible neither side showing great attacking ambition and risking another defeat.
Sunday 5 October 2025
Aston Villa v Burnley (2pm)
Villa got their first domestic win of the season last Sunday at the seventh attempt, the 3-1 scoreline a bit misleading though as away side Fulham took the lead and saw a series of decisions go against them from match officials, including what looked a clear penalty not given to make it 2-0.
Their only previous win had been an unconvincing 1-0 at home to Bologna in the Europa League.
They had a more convincing 2-0 away at Feyenoord on Thursday but I fancy a draw here.
Burnley have the advantage of no midweek match and whilst they aren’t a great side, they are showing decent form in most matches and were well worth a draw against Liverpool and Man U, only to concede very late at Old Trafford and at home to the scousers.
I think Burnley will get a point and maybe even a shock away win not out of the question.
Everton v Crystal Palace (2pm)
Grealish has showed up well on loan at Everton but I don’t find them convincing at all.
Their last four matches have seen poor home draws with Villa and West Ham, a defeat at Liverpool and a 2-0 cup loss at Wolves.
Palace on the other hand are powering on under the impressive Glasner, battering Liverpool last weekend and Thursday night a 2-0 away win against Dynamo Kiev in Poland.
I think Palace will win but maybe a hope that Everton can scramble another home draw, if the away side have any fatigue/selection issues after their match on Thursday night.
Newcastle v Nottingham Forest (2pm)
The only game that really matters of course.
Playing against a team and club that has turned into a bit of a mess, Forest winning only three of their last 18 games in all competitions, none at all in these most recent six under Ange Postecoglou and conceding 13 goals in these last half dozen.
No reason why United can’t make it consecutive wins for the first time this season and head into the latest international break full of momentum and growing confidence.
Wolves v Brighton (2pm)
Brighton have a good team but inconsistent, with two wins, two draws and two defeats in the Premier League. They have also conceded in all of the six PL matches.
I don’t think Wolves are as bad as their opening five defeats suggested in the Premier League.
They won at home against both Everton and West Ham in the Carabao Cup and then should have picked up their first PL victory of the season, only to concede in added time at Spurs.
Brighton are capable of beating any team on their day but I have a feeling this could be when Wolves get their first Premier League win of the season.
Brentford v Man City (4.30pm)
Most people were predicting Brentford falling apart after losing their manager and key players, with almost as many predicting Man City would become back to something like their best after massive spending in 2025.
Brentford are through to the last 16 of the Carabao Cup and are undefeated at home in both cup and league.
At home, Keith Andrews’ team have won twice against Villa, Man U were lucky to only lose 3-1 there last weekend, whilst the Bees also got a 2-2 draw against Chelsea.
Since an opening day win at Wolves, Man City have won only three of seven games in the Premier League and Champions League.
Away from home they have lost to Brighton and got draws at Arsenal and Monaco.
At home to Man City, Brentford have got a win, a draw and one defeat in their last three Premier League clashes at the GTech Community Stadium. I think Brentford are capable of getting at a point on Sunday.
