While FC Bayern is working on the transfers of Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari, plans regarding outgoing players are also picking up speed. With Jonathan Asp Jensen, the next young talent could now be leaving the record champions.

At Säbener Straße, intensive work is currently underway on the squad for the upcoming season. In addition to several target transfers, the management team led by Max Eberl also aims to generate additional revenue. In this context, the focus is increasingly shifting to young players who have not yet been able to secure a permanent spot on the professional roster.

One of them is Jonathan Asp Jensen.

As reported by BILD, Lazio Rome has significantly intensified its efforts to sign the 20-year-old Dane in recent days. The historic Italian club is reportedly pushing particularly hard for a transfer and closely monitoring the situation.

Lazio is showing concrete interest

Initial reports of interest from Italy and Denmark emerged as early as the past few weeks. Now, Lazio appears to have taken the lead in the race to sign the attacking player.

While clubs from the Bundesliga are also interested in Asp Jensen, concrete negotiations are reportedly being conducted primarily with Lazio.

Exactly what a potential deal might look like is still unclear at this time. Both a permanent transfer and a deal with a buyback option or a share of any future transfer fee are conceivable.

Asp Jensen spent last season on loan at Grasshoppers Zurich, where he gained valuable experience in professional soccer. In total, the attacking midfielder contributed an impressive 15 points in 40 competitive matches and developed into a key part of the team.

His performances have significantly increased his market value and simultaneously positioned him for greater challenges.

Bayern stands to profit from the transfer

For FC Bayern, a sale could also be financially worthwhile. The Munich club signed Asp Jensen in the summer of 2022 from the top Danish club FC Midtjylland for just over one million euros. Following his positive development in Switzerland, a transfer fee in the mid-single-digit millions is now likely to be realistic.

This could result in a significant transfer profit for the record champions.

From a sporting perspective, there are also strong arguments for a move. Competition in FC Bayern’s attacking midfield is fierce. Players like Jamal Musiala, Ismael Saibari—should the transfer go through—and other young talents are vying for playing time.

At a club like Lazio, Asp Jensen would have significantly better prospects for regular playing time and could take the next step in his development.

The transfer is not yet on the verge of being finalized. Nevertheless, indications are mounting that things are moving forward.

Following Maurice Krattenmacher, who is on the verge of a move to SV Elversberg, Asp Jensen could thus be the next young player to leave FC Bayern this summer.

For Munich, this would be another step toward freeing up funds for their major transfer targets this summer.
