Cristiano Ronaldo ended 2023 as the world’s leading goalscorer with 54 for Portugal and Al Nassr, and said he will try to do it again next year.
"I'm very happy, it was a good year for me as an individual and as a collective. I scored so many goals, I helped the team a lot at Al-Nassr and for the national team. I feel good, I feel happy and next year I will try to do it again," he told SSC Sports.
Harry Kane finished on 52 for England and Bayern Munich, Kylian Mbappe also hit 52, and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland ended with 50.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner joined Al Nassr in January 2023, and has 50 appearances and 44 goals for the club.
This season in the Saudi Pro League he has 18 matches and 20 goals, and has provided nine assists for Al Nassr in 2023-24.
He returned to Manchester United in 2021 after leaving Juventus, but the stint ended following a controversial interview with Piers Morgan in which he criticised Erik ten Hag. After claiming the manager did not respect him, United terminated his contract. In his second spell he made 54 appearances and scored 27.
