Neymar returned to Brazil training on Tuesday, four days before facing Haiti, though his involvement is considered unlikely.
The Santos forward, a surprise inclusion in Carlo Ancelotti’s World Cup squad, has 128 caps and 79 goals. According to Globo, he limited himself to physical drills, with no ball work or contact.
Brazil’s staff are not hurrying his return, aiming to ensure full recovery from a late-season calf injury with Santos that was expected to keep him out for two to three weeks.
He missed the World Cup opener against Morocco, which finished 1-1.
Given the recent restart and less than optimal fitness, he is not assured to feature against Haiti on Saturday 20 June, kick-off 2.30am, and his presence is viewed as unlikely. In that case, he would only be certain to play against Scotland on Thursday 25 June, kick-off midnight, unless Brazil qualify for the round of 32.
