Neymar Jr absent as Santos name 24-man squad for Palmeiras clash | OneFootball

According to Diario Do Peixe, Santos have named a 24-man squad for Saturday’s derby at Palmeiras. The match is at 18:30 at Allianz Parque in the 14th round of the Brasileirão. Neymar Jr is not included.

The list features three goalkeepers, four centre-backs, three full-backs, eight midfielders and six forwards. With only 23 permitted on matchday, one player will be cut.

The standout inclusion is midfielder Samuel Pierri, who has been training with the first team and has been praised by head coach Cuca.

There is also the return of midfielder Zé Rafael after an ankle sprain.

Midfielders Gabriel Menino, still in physical transition after a hamstring issue, and Gustavo Henrique, who has a left adductor injury, are absent. Forwards Lautaro Díaz, with pain in his right thigh, and Thaciano, with left adductor oedema, also miss out. Neymar Jr is being preserved because of the synthetic surface.
