Brazil have named a 26-man World Cup squad for the United States, Mexico and Canada, with Carlo Ancelotti recalling Neymar.

According to Superdeporte, the forward celebrated the call-up on social media, while Marcelo also welcomed the news. The announcement has triggered lively debate across Brazil.

His inclusion comes after months of uncertainty over his participation. Neymar, now at Santos, heads an attack that also includes Raphinha and Vinícius Júnior.

Ancelotti has had to omit several important players with fitness problems, including Éder Militão, Rodrygo Goes and the teenager Estêvão Willian, currently linked with Chelsea.

Selections by choice have fuelled criticism, with Chelsea striker João Pedro left out despite being on Barcelona’s radar. He has 20 goals and nine assists for the Blues.

Other omissions by choice include Gabriel Jesus, Richarlison, Antony, Savinho and Andrey Santos. Alemão, the striker who has taken Rayo Vallecano to the Conference League final, also misses out.

Brazil start their campaign on 14 June against Morocco in Group C, which also features Scotland and Haiti.

Goalkeepers: Alisson, Ederson, Weverton. Defenders: Marquinhos, Gabriel, Bremer, Ibáñez, Léo Pereira, Wesley, Danilo, Alex Sandro, Douglas Santos. Midfielders: Casemiro, Bruno Guimarães, Fabinho, Danilo, Lucas Paquetá. Forwards: Endrick, Raphinha, Martinelli, Igor Thiago, Matheus Cunha, Rayan, Luiz Henrique, Vinícius Jr, Neymar.
