According to Diario Do Peixe, Neymar skipped Thursday’s session at CT Rei Pelé, missing Cuca’s ball work, and followed a gym programme as Santos prepare to face Fluminense.
After two consecutive outings at Vila Belmiro, the staff managed his workload for Sunday at 16:00 in the 12th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
On the pitch, Cuca began tactical adjustments with the starters back in ball drills. The session came a day after a meeting between staff, squad and members of an organised supporters’ group, amid pressure following the draw with Recoleta in the Copa Sudamericana.
The major concern was Rony’s absence. The forward felt pain in his right ankle on Wednesday, remains under daily assessment and could miss the weekend.
Midfielder Gabriel Menino also stayed indoors, continuing physiotherapy on a right hamstring injury.
Santos return to training on Friday with two sessions, continuing preparations, with the morning open to the media. With 13 points in the league, they aim to build momentum and increase the cushion to the relegation zone at Vila Belmiro.
