The World Cup has taken much of the attention away from MLS and the summer transfer window. However, plenty of clubs have been making interesting moves to strengthen their squads or free up roster spots.

In recent weeks, Neymar Jr.'s name was linked with the league, but none of the speculation ultimately materialized.

The Brazilian superstar's name continues to circulate due to his limited playing time with the team.

Nevertheless, according to The Athletic, Neymar Jr.'s name should not be ruled out as a potential MLS transfer once his contract with Santos comes to an end.

Neymar Jr could move to the MLS sooner rather than later

The aforementioned outlet, the Brazilian superstar decided to withdraw from negotiations with FC Cincinnati after talks dragged on, despite positive initial discussions.

Although Cincinnati never submitted a formal offer to Neymar's representatives, the former FC Barcelona star was interested in joining the club if the two sides could reach an agreement on financial terms.

However, Neymar’s dream of playing in the MLS isn’t over, as the report suggests the former Paris Saint-Germain player is open to playing for another team if the situation and financial terms prove favorable.

This season, Neymar’s spot in Brazil’s World Cup squad was uncertain due to recurring injuries that sidelined him for extended periods and significantly impacted his performance.

Nevertheless, Carlo Ancelotti still called up what many consider to be the country's best player.

That is why signing Neymar would be a massive coup for any MLS club, both from a sporting and commercial standpoint.

However, fans should also understand that the Santos star has become increasingly injury-prone, and that is a risk every club must carefully consider before making a move for him.

If I’m being honest, I couldn’t picture him playing with the Orange and Blues, but with the Fire is another story. Chicago has something that could contrast with Neymar and bring a good performance from him.
