Athletic Club star Nico Williams has set his sights on a move to Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid.

This comes amid the understanding that the Spanish international has in fact long been biding his time in the hopes of Los Blancos moving for his signature.

Wide-man Nico of course dominated the headlines across his home country this past summer, after coming close to linking up with Barcelona.

In the end, however, the 23-year-old pulled the plug on the transfer at the last minute.

As per a report from Fichajes:

‘Despite strong interest from abroad, especially from the Premier League, the player’s desire is unequivocal. Nico Williams wants to sign for Real Madrid and is willing to wait for the right moment for that opportunity to materialise.’

It is also noted that, despite penning a new long-term contract with Athletic Club over the summer, Nico would be ready to depart Bilbao as early as 2026.
