Super Eagles looking to secure round of 16 berth

Nigeria will face the toughest match of their Africa Cup of Nations campaign so far as they go toe-to-toe with Tunisia in Fez.

OneFootball Videos

The Super Eagles got their campaign off to a positive start last week with a 2-1 defeat of Tanzania, with Semi Ajayi and Ademola Lookman on the scoresheet.

Tunisia, though, are ranked some 71 places higher than Tanzania by FIFA, and will certainly prove a much tougher opposition.

The Eagles of Carthage routed Uganda in their own tournament opener, winning 3-1, and will have their hearts set on inflicting similar misery on Nigeria.

Given both Nigeria and Tunisia won their first group stage matches, this match’s winner will all but confirm their place in the AFCON round of 16.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Nigeria vs Tunisia is scheduled for an 8pm GMT kick-off on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

The match will take place at the Fez Stadium.

Nigeria vs Tunisia team news

Nigeria managed to come through their AFCON opener with no new injuries.

Ademola Lookman impressed as a No10 and scored a crucial late winner in that match, so will very likely return to the side.

So too will Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, who drew a blank against Tanzania.

For Tunisia, there was concern surrounding Dynamo Makhachkala striker Hazem Mastouri, who came off at half-time against Uganda after being subject to a number of heavy tackles. He has been cleared to face Nigeria, though, after passing tests at a hospital.

Winger Elias Achouri will be one to watch after he hit a brace against Uganda, as will Burnley midfielder Hannibal Mejbri.

Nigeria vs Tunisia prediction

The Super Eagles did well to launch their AFCON campaign with a win over Uganda, but will face a far tougher test against Tunisia.

If they are to overcome the Eagles of Carthage, though, they will need Victor Osimhen firing on al cylinders, as well as the corps of Premier League stars behind him.

After cruising through their warm-up fixtures, now is the time to step on the gas. Expect it to be a tight match, but Nigeria’s firepower should see them through.

Nigeria to win, 2-1.

Head to head (h2h) history and results
