Mestalla has a checkered past when it comes to Vinicius Jr., as the Brazilian forward was the subject of intense racist abuse in May 2023, sparking outrage from the global sporting fraternity.
Mestalla became the centre of attention once again, in the most recent encounter between Real Madrid and Valencia.
The major highlight of the game saw Vinicius Junior picking up a two-game suspension following a red card. Real Madrid, though, alleged that the forward was once again a subject of racist chants.
However, as reported by Diario AS, La Liga has refuted claims by Real Madrid that Vinicius Jr. was racially insulted during their match against Valencia.

La Liga insists that no racist insults were reported to the RFEF against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia, and Intolerance in Sport.
Real Madrid had argued in their appeal that Vinicius Jr. received “serious racist insults” immediately prior to his expulsion, which were not noted by the match officials.
On the other hand, La Liga has acknowledged offensive chants directed at Real Madrid from the Mestalla’s Gol Sur stand.
They have, in fact, listed ten such comments which have been deemed questionable.
These chants, while offensive, were not deemed racist by La Liga’s standards, leading to a situation where the organization has reported these for inciting violence or being intolerant, but not for racism against Vinicius specifically.
Earlier in the day, Valencia forward Sergi Canos also brushed aside allegations of racism against Vinicius in the stadium.
