Nordi Mukiele addressed Sunderland supporters on Instagram after appearing to react to comments from the stands during the 5-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at the Stadium of Light.
“Yes, it is normal to react, and I think our fans are not happy, even if they supported us,” Le Bris told Sky Sports. “After that, emotions are not rational, so I can't comment on it.”
Sunderland were four down at half-time after a damaging first period that effectively settled the contest, and the exchange came as the players headed for the tunnel amid a tense atmosphere.
Mukiele described it as a difficult night and said football brings ups and downs. He urged the team to stand up, change the mindset and go again, adding that four matches remain and asking supporters to keep believing.
Le Bris called the loss painful, saying 4-0 at the interval was hard to explain. He felt lapses in standards were punished before the break, noted improved energy afterwards, and said late attacking risk left Sunderland vulnerable as Forest added a fifth.
