FIFA had at one stage considered delaying Norway v England’s World Cup quarter-final in Miami, but that option appears to have been ruled out for now. Kick-off is set to proceed in oppressive heat.

According to L'Équipe, the tie remains scheduled for 17:00 local time, 23:00 in France, after FIFA weighed a weather-related delay on Friday.

Around three hours before kick-off in Miami, conditions were stifling, with a feels-like temperature close to 40 degrees and humidity near 90%.

Hardly ideal for a World Cup quarter-final, yet both teams can take some comfort that a delayed start currently looks unlikely.

The severe weather expected in the area is forecast to arrive after the match.
