Andre Brooks completed a surprising transfer from Sheffield United to Championship rivals Norwich City
Norwich City have completed the signing of Andre Brooks from Sheffield United, and hope the winger can help them in their quest to seal an eventual Premier League return.
The Canaries established hugely impressive form under Philippe Clement in the Championship last season, but they ultimately finished ninth, eight points adrift of the play-offs.
Norwich will hope to finish in the top eight, or even in the automatic promotion spots, next term, while they have bolstered their squad with the permanent additions of Sam Field and Brooks.
Sheffield United sanctioned Brooks' exit even though the South Yorkshire outfit have promotion aspirations of their own, having reached the play-off final in 2025.

Norwich's new signing notched six goals and two assists in 39 Championship appearances last season, but those numbers don't tell the whole story, as his direct dribbling approach makes him a very dangerous player.
Football League World asked our Canaries fan pundit, Zeke Downes, how happy he is with the deal for Brooks that could reach eight figures if add-ons are met, and how surprised he is that his club have splashed the cash for a player from a second-tier rival.
Downes told FLW: "I'm really happy with this. He is a proven Championship player who has played at a high level. He was Sheffield United's player of the season.
"They are very upset to be losing him, which is a really good sign because, obviously, if the club that you're buying a player from is disappointed that they are leaving, then hopefully it means that he will be a decent player for us.
"I like that we have managed to get a winger in early doors because everyone knew that was where we were missing a player, that and left-back, really.
"The fact that we've got this winger who's a natural winger, has really good experience in the league, as I say, and he's at a really good age where he's still got a bit of room to grow.
"But he's also not really new, not raw. I'm really, really happy. It's a decent amount of money, quite a lot of money, very near to our maximum that we've spent, but I'm hoping that it'll be worth it."

Both Norwich and Sheffield United are vying to win promotion from the Championship next term, and Blades supporters have understandably shared their surprise at the fact that their club have sold a talented player to the Canaries.
In contrast, supporters of the Norfolk outfit are pleased with their signing, with one fan commenting on X: "Like this signing a lot. 8M seems strong money, but whenever I saw Sheff Utd last season, he looked a bit of a handful."
Another Norwich fan added: "Serious signing."
One X user said: "This is a signing the fans can get behind, class!"
A fellow Canaries supporter commented: "What a signing that is!", with another excitedly adding: "Wow. Okay, so we've come to play. Statement signing that is."
Brooks' final goal for the Blades arrived when they lost 2-1 to then promotion chasers Wrexham on 21 March.
